The jubilee 10th edition of Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia will take place on the first weekend of August. The organizers encourage everyone to celebrate this event together. For this occasion, they have also prepared a special video in which they reminisce about the beginnings of IRONMAN competitions in our country.

The first edition of the Gdynia triathlon took place in 2013, but it was two years later that the event became part of the legendary IRONMAN series – the world's largest triathlon event series that has been motivating and inspiring hundreds of thousands of people worldwide to take on challenges for years, using the iconic slogan #AnythingIsPossible.

In August 2014, it was announced that the IRONMAN series would make its appearance in Poland, just before the second edition of the Gdynia triathlon. The announcement took place at the Gdynia Arena, where a large group of triathletes participating in the competition had gathered. This moment deeply resonated with many people.

"I saw that many people had tears in their eyes. It was a beautiful moment."
Marek Łucyk, Vice Mayor of Gdynia for Development

On August 9, 2015, in the first edition of the event under the IRONMAN 70.3 banner in Poland, representatives from Germany, Nils Frommhold and Diana Riesler, triumphed, and Gdynia became a permanent part of the history of triathlon in our country. Michał Drelich, the director of IRONMAN Poland, speaks about the impact of this event.

"The appearance of the IRONMAN series in Poland undoubtedly contributed to the tremendous popularization of this discipline in our country."
Michał Drelich, Director of IRONMAN Poland

One of the most significant events in the history of Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia was the participation of Jan Frodeno. The German legend of global triathlon, Olympic gold medalist, and multiple IRONMAN world champion appeared in Gdynia in 2019 and did not disappoint fans, confidently winning the race and setting a record on the Gdynia course.

"He is practically an icon, a living legend of triathlon, an outstanding athlete. And I could stand with him at the starting line, compete on the same course."
Tomasz Spaleniak, Coach and Athlete at Endure Team

The Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia competition stands out not only for its scale and history but also for its remarkable features. Participants also take notice of the race routes, which are highly attractive while being eventful. The competition begins with a swim in the Gdańsk Bay, a unique feature among Polish triathlon events where the swimming stage is predominantly held in lakes. Participants then transition to cycling, covering a challenging and interesting 90 km route through the Kashubia region, where, contrary to appearances, the terrain is not flat. The event is completed with a running stage in the heart of Gdynia, featuring a course that includes streets like Świętojańska and the Seaside Boulevard. Triathletes can expect loud support from a large gathering of spectators. The finishing touch is the finish line located in the middle of Śródmieście Beach in Gdynia.

"Every time I get goosebumps when I'm at this event. I'm glad that in the meantime, IRONMAN competitions have also appeared in Warsaw and Poznań, but Gdynia was the first race, and we are immensely proud of that."
Marek Łucyk, Vice Mayor of Gdynia for Development

The current edition of Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia will take place from August 2nd to 4th. In addition to the main competition covering the IRONMAN 70.3 distance (1.9 km swim - 90 km bike - 21.1 km run), triathlon enthusiasts can also participate in the Olympic distance, as well as the Saturday event 4:18:4 Gdynia powered by Sportano.pl – an ideal challenge for beginners (400m swim - 18 km bike - 4 km run). As part of the weekend, Night Run Gdynia - a 5 km night run - and competitions for children and youth, Pho3nix IRONKIDS Gdynia, are also planned
