Gdynia has played a key role in the development of Polish triathlon over the past 10 years. After a one-year break, the return of IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia will add new chapters to this story. The upcoming edition, scheduled for 19 July 2026, will be one of the official cultural and sports events organized to celebrate the city’s centenary.

To już pewne – triathlon spod znaku IRONMAN wraca nad Bałtyk. Potwierdzili to dziś, podczas specjalnej konferencji, włodarze Gdyni i Michał Drelich, dyrektor IRONMAN Poland. Prace nad szczegółami wydarzenia już trwają. Wiadomo, że trasy nie będą znacząco różniły się od tych z 2024 roku, a triathloniści ponownie finiszować będą na spektakularnej mecie na Plaży Miejskiej.

Some things never change, because they have simply become legendary. This is the case with the IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia finish line on the City Beach. For one day, it becomes the center of the triathlon world. On this sand, Polish triathlon fans have proven for years that they are the best in the world!
Michał Drelich – IRONMAN Poland Director

The return of the IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia race is a surprise prepared for triathlon fans by the city authorities as part of Gdynia’s centenary celebrations.

The longing for the legendary IRONMAN series in Gdynia did not last long. Thanks to excellent organization, a scenic location, a spectacular course, and the extraordinary atmosphere created by the best supporters, we were once called the capital of Polish triathlon. IRONMAN Poland is coming home, back to its Gdynia roots. In 2015, we paved the way by hosting the first half-distance race, and in 2021 the city held the first full-distance IRONMAN event in the country, placing us firmly among the triathlon elite. We expect great sporting competition — as for the organization and the fans, we have nothing to worry about.
Tadeusz Szemiot – Chairman of the Gdynia City Council

Triathletes will have 1,500 slots available for the main distance (1.9 km swim, 90 km bike, 21 km run) and another 500 slots for the Olympic distance. Registration opens on 2 December at 14:00 on SlotMarket.pl. It’s worth signing up early, as this year’s IRONMAN Poland events are selling out very quickly — IRONMAN 70.3 Krakow, taking place on 2 August 2026, is already sold out, and the IRONMAN 70.3 races in Warsaw and Poznan are recording record-fast registration compared to previous years.

In addition to securing a spot on the start list, early registration also comes with a lower entry fee and a package of IRONMAN Flex90 Early Entry Benefits. All detailed information will soon be available on the official website www.ironmangdynia.pl.

The event program will also include races for children and youth under the IRONKIDS banner, as well as the traditional 5 km Night Run, which has accompanied IRONMAN Poland weekends for several years. Registration for these side events will open at a later date.

We know that the Night Run is a great chance for local runners who don’t take part in the triathlon to join us. Many of them are young people who are just starting their running journey. This way, they can become part of the IRONMAN Poland weekend and cross that spectacular finish line on the beach.
Maciej Stroiński – spokesperson for IRONMAN Poland

A celebration of sport

IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia will be one of two opportunities next year to cross the finish line on Gdynia’s City Beach. As part of the city’s centenary celebrations, the PKO Gdynia Half Marathon will take place on 25 April, hosting the 35th PZLA Polish Half Marathon Championships. At the moment, more than 3,500 runners are already on the start list, and the organizers expect up to 10,000 participants.
