The first triathlon excitement of the Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia weekend is behind us. In the brand-new Saturday race, 4:18:4 Gdynia powered by Sportano.pl, Jarosław Jankiewicz and Malin Ehlers emerged victorious

In excellent conditions, participants of the first edition of the race competed over a distance of 400m swimming, 18 km cycling, and 4 km running. The calm waters of the Gulf of Gdańsk, beautiful weather, and routes designed to provide maximum comfort for participants, while allowing spectators to quickly move between race stages, made the 4:18:4 Gdynia powered by Sportano.pl truly an ideal race for triathlon beginners.

This is the idea behind this race. It’s meant to be a place where you can complete your first triathlon and start your journey in this sport. Nothing makes us happier after this first edition than the large group of beginners we were able to welcome into the triathlon family today.
Piotr Jakóbik, spokesperson for IRONMAN Poland

The winner was Poland’s Jarosław Jankiewicz, who completed the entire race in exactly 48 minutes. Finishing behind him were Igor Mentel (49:25) and Maksymilian Sarna (49:41).

A very good race for me, although the cycling definitely still needs some fine-tuning. I was in the lead for most of the time, had to keep pushing ahead, but it wasn’t a problem, and I carried the victory to the finish line.

The women’s race was won by Germany’s Malin Ehlers with a time of 53 minutes and 19 seconds. Second place went to Monika Belczewska (58:43), a Polish paratriathlete who will represent our country at the Paralympic Games in Paris in less than a month. Standing on the third step of the podium was Patrycja Nerć (1:01:20).

I really enjoyed it. Great swim, a bit challenging on the bike with some uphill sections, but then I could enjoy the amazing atmosphere during the run and at the finish line.
